So easy, so fun.

This quick three ingredient finger paint uses instant or quick mixing flour. It is a fun activity to do at home with your little ones or in a small group setting.

We really like finger paint at our house. Finger paint is a quick simple sensory experience for children of all ages. There are so many different ways to make finger paint, in many different textures that help build your child’s brain, small motor skills, and exercise their creative ability.

What you will need

  • 1 medium mixing bowl to stir the ingredients.
  • 4-5 Small bowls for dividing the paint into different colors.
  • 1 Wisk or spoon, I think a wisk works better.
  • 3-4 Sheets of paper, you can use plain paper, finger paint paper or construction paper
  • 1 cup Quick mixing flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1-3 drops food coloring

The main ingredient in this finger paint is quick mixing flour. It is also called instant flour. Typically this flour is used to make gravy or thicken sauces. It’s fine texture makes this flour finger paint easy to stir together with room temperature water apposed to regular flour.

Getting ready

If you are planning on having your little one help with making this finger paint make sure to premeasure the ingredients to avoid too much spilling. Having your child help with making the finger paint is adds a lot of fun to the experience.

Add the flour and water to a mixing bowl and mix until smooth. My daughter wanted to use a spoon but we did have to switch to a wisk to get the flour completely combined.

Mix up some color

Pour the uncolored finger paint into smaller bowls and then add some food coloring to each bowl. I did the pouring and my daughter did the food coloring. We used these Wilton neon food colors. If you would like a chemical free food coloring I like this Watkins food coloring.

Time to paint

Get out your paper and have fun finger painting. My daughter always needs lots of baby wipes when doing finger paint because she doesn’t like mixing colors. Look here For more fun crafts ideas
